THE ART OF THE CH'AN TEA CEREMONY
3pm, Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th May
The Wisdom Hall - BMW Edge, Federation Square

Presented as part of The Ch'an of Tea, Flower and Music program, The Art of the Ch'an Tea Ceremony is special participative workshop with international Tea Master, Ms Jin.
In Buddhism, the offering of tea, flower and music is one of the ten offerings depicted in the “Emperor Liang’s Great Repentance” Sutra.
This workshop demonstrates the ceremony of tea brewing; offering the aroma of the tea, the fragrance of flowers and the gentle music of the Gu Zheng to the Buddha.
In The Art of Tea Ceremony, Tea Master Miss Jin will guide you through the symbolism of Ch’an Tea Ceremony, Flower and Music, accompanied by Ms Lei Hong on the traditional Gu Zheng (Chinese Zither).
The Ch'an Tea Ceremony is a meditative Buddhist practice, an example of mindfulness, paying attention to the now. Rather than a ceremony involving tea, it is just tea; this moment, fully experienced.
Through meticulous attention to each detail during the preparation and drinking of tea; participants enter into a shared, intimate experience of the tea, and the offering of these to the Buddha.
