THE ART OF TAI CHI
12pm, Sunday 16th May
The Wisdom Hall - BMW Edge, Federation Square

Presented as part of The Ch'an of Tea, Flower and Music program, The Art of Tai Chi is a special participative Tai Chi workshop with Mark Mayes, Senior Instructor of Tai Chi / Qi Gong and founder of Elixir Field.
Tai Chi is an ancient internal Chinese martial art first developed over 2,000 years ago. This gentle form of exercise is often practiced for health reasons, stress relief and general well being.
Often described as 'meditation in motion', it promotes serenity through gentle movements - connecting the mind and body.
In the Art of Tai Chi, Mark will explore Shaolin Qi Gong techniques, which are co-ordinated with deep breathing, harmonising the subtle energies of the body - specifically the kidneys (vital for growth and regeneration) whilst calming the emotions and clearing the mind.
Mark has been studying Tai Chi, Ba Gua Zhang and Xing Yi Quan at the
Tai Chi Wushu Institute since 1996; he is a Nationally Accredited Coach in Martial Arts and currently holds the level of 3rd Dan (Tai Chi).
Mark has won multiple gold medals in Australian National Open Competition in Ba Gua Zhang and Tai Chi Weapons categories.
