Lumbini Garden

What is Lumbini Garden?

This garden of statues and lotus flowers replicates the Lumbini Garden where Queen Maya gave birth to Buddha. As soon as Buddha was born, he walked seven steps and the places where his feet touched the earth, lotus flowers bloomed. Spread across the St Paul’s Terrace Steps, the Lumbini Garden provides a sanctuary for contemplative prayer and mindful relaxation. Follow the perfumed fragrance of burning incense to the Bathing Buddha Arches to cleansing one’s mind and self through the Bathing of the Buddha ceremony (located in Swanston Street Forecourt).
