Interfaith Ceremony for Peace and Understanding

Date/Time: Sunday, 21 May 2017 – 10:45am – 11:15am

Location: Buddha Stage, The Square (map N)

In collaboration with The Interfaith Centre of Melbourne, the Interfaith Ceremony for Peace and Understanding brings together the different faiths around the world we live in, to share in the commonality of seeking world peace. It is through understanding, respect and magnanimity that we may all co-exist in harmony with one another. It is a celebration and focus on the similarities we share, instead of seeing only the differences that separate us all.

Presented by Fo Guang Shan Melbourne and The Interfaith Centre of Melbourne, spiritual leaders and representatives from various faiths, will offer prayers and readings from sacred texts for peace and understanding amongst all beings in the world. Together, side by side, in unity, participants alongside religious leaders and representatives will make a peace offering towards understanding between the people of the world’s religions, faiths and spiritualties.

The ceremony is held as part of the free annual Buddha’s Day and Multicultural Festival @ Federation Square.

The festival is organised by Fo Guang Shan Melbourne and Buddha’s Light International Association of Victoria (BLIA), a not-for-profit organisation, which engages in activities that are beneficial to society at large. The association places emphasis on education, culture, cultivation and service.
