Compassion teaches us not to kill.  Compassion paves the way for respecting the right for all creatures great and small to live.  Buddhists choose to become vegetarian out of respect for all life and to observe the First Buddhist Precept of no killing.  Vegetarianism is also consistent with the Buddhist concepts of inter-relatedness and rebirth.  It also has a greater impact on ensuring the sustainability of mother Earth and the health of the human race.

Whatever your motivation may be, we invite you to explore a way to be kind to others, to yourself, as well as to mother Earth; through healthy eating, the vegetarian way.

Buddha’s Light International Association of Victoria is proud announce the return of the popular Vegilicious, vegetarian cooking demonstrations by chefs and cooks from some of Melbourne’s finest establishments live on stage.

Today, vegetarian cuisine is not an endless menu of tofu burgers, lentil curries, salads and mung beans.  Come and learn how to delight your taste buds by cooking tantalizing vegetarian culinary delights!

Come and explore simple, healthy, fresh and heavenly tastes the vegetarian way!

This activity is held as part of the free annual Buddha’s Day and Multicultural Festival @ Federation Square.  The festival is organised by Fo Guang Shan Melbourne and Buddha’s Light International Association of Victoria (BLIA), a not-for-profit organisation, which engages in activities that are beneficial to society at large.  The association places emphasis on education, culture, cultivation and service.
