What is Tai Chi?
Walking meditation and Taichi, often referred to as “meditation in motion“, are slow-moving exercises that help to bring about a state of mental calm and clarity. In Chinese culture, meditation embodies a formless entity that permeates all aspects of life, from our thoughts to our actions. Guided by a Venerable of Fo Guang Shan (FGS), learn and experience the techniques and benefits of these ancient practices.
Walking meditation involves learning to be aware as you walk, simultaneously cultivating mindfulness and a state of mental calm through focusing the mind on natural movements. Similarly, Tai Chi, a Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and health benefits, focuses the mind on movements of the form to help bring about peace of mind, tranquility and clarity.
